Gary Alan Aldrich was born in Montana on October 20th, 1933. He moved around with his family during his childhood, eventually settling into the San Francisco Bay Area in the 1950’s. He attended UC Berkeley, and after receiving his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Mathematics, became a computer programmer. He retired after 35 years as senior programmer for UCSF Hospital Information Systems in 1991.
In his retirement, Gary enjoyed solving Sudoku, playing bridge, and writing and editing fiction. He loved collecting books, films, and music, and built an extensive library to suit his eclectic tastes. A resident of the city for over 50 years, Gary passed away in San Francisco on March 7th, 2019.

The coming of age of a young boy during the middle of the last century, beginning in Mill Valley in the late fifties and carried on a time trip through Santa Rosa and Montana before ending up in the Haight Ashbury during the sixties.
